The Clinton Maroons scored six runs in the last three frames to separate and beat Warrensburg-Latham 9-2 in Central Illinois Conference high school baseball Tuesday from Warrensburg.
Coming off an emotional, come-from-behind win Monday where Brooks Cluver homered to start a three-run rally in the seventh inning that catapulted the Maroons to a walk-off win, the senior drove in three runs again Tuesday finishing 1-for-4 with a double.
The Maroons led 3-0 heading into the top half of the fifth inning. They would tack on a run to go up 4-0.
The Cardinals cut the deficit in half with a two-run inning but the Maroons answered with two more runs in the top of the sixth to go up 6-2 and put the game out of reach with a three-run seventh inning.
Mason Walker reached base four times finishing 2-for-3 with two walks and two runs scored. Colton Walker scored three times and drove in a run finishing 1-for-3 with two walks.
Jack Manning was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored for Clinton.
Walker was very good on the mound as well. The senior southpaw went 4 2/3 innings, allowing two runs, one was earned on three hits and issued three walks while striking out eight.
Preston Curtis, one of the heroes from Monday, struck out three in 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.
