Mt. Pulaski scored six runs in the fifth inning to separate and beat Midwest Central 10-2 in Tomahawk Conference baseball Thursday in Mt. Pulaski.
Luke Martin hit a two-run double in the frame to highlight the big inning. Landon Smith got the Hilltoppers started with a two-run triple as part of a three-run third inning.
Martin finished 1-for-3 with three RBIs while Tyler Cross and Smith finished with two RBIs apiece. Eric Cooper added a double finishing 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
Chance Payne struck out nine and allowed two unearned runs in six innings. He permitted two hits and issued five walks.
The Hilltoppers go to 12-0 overall and 1-0 in the Tomahawk. Mt. Pulaski travels to Lexington for a Saturday morning matchup.
