An eight run third inning helped Champaign Central rally and then hold off Normal West Friday in Big 12 baseball action in Champaign.
The Maroons dropped eight runs in the third inning to overcome an 8-3 deficit and then held off a Wildcats run in the seventh inning for Central's second win of the week over Normal West.
Sam DesCarpentrie homered and drove in five runs for the Wildcats. Bradyn Whitehead finished 3-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs. Brady Hart doubled in a run for the Normal West as well.
The Wildcats have dropped two in a row after a four-game winning streak.
They have showdowns with in-town rival Normal Community next week on Monday and Wednesday.
