HS Baseball: Fast Start Gets Normal Community By Champaign Centennial

Normal Community scored ten runs in the first two frames and never looked back as they rolled to a 12-5 win over Champaign Centennial in Big 12 baseball action in Champaign Friday afternoon.

 

Dexter Niekamp [knee-camp] drove in four runs, Ryan Thiele [tee-lee] tripled and drove in two while Owen Cavanaugh [ca-van-awe] doubled and drove in a pair for the Ironmen.

 

Normal took two from Centennial this week in Big 12 play. 

Kyle Beaty struck out six in four innings of one-run ball. Parker Michels permitted three unearned runs with four strikeouts in 1 1/3 innings of relief.

 

Normal is 14-0 overall and improves to 4-0 in the Big 12. They travel to Bradley-Bourbonnais [burr-bon-A] on Saturday before a showdown with in-town rival Normal West on Monday and Wednesday next week.
