Jack Manning singled in what proved to be the winning run in the third inning to back seven complete innings from Brock Wilson Saturday as Clinton edged Riverton 2-1 in non-conference baseball action in Riverton Saturday.
Cole Fintress tripled in a run in the top of the second to answer a run-scoring inning from the Hawks and then Manning singled hom Mason Walker to give the Maroons sophomore the cushion he'd need to preserve the win.
Fintress doubled and tripled in a 2-for-3 effort from the plate Saturday. Ryne Pine was 3-for-3 while Mason Walker reached base three times finishing 1-for-2 with two walks and a run scored.
Wilson struck out five in seven innings of one-run ball for Clinton. The sophomore allowed four hits, and three walks and struck out five.
Clinton moves to 12-3 overall. A big week awaits Clinton with Class 3A Rantoul Tuesday, then travels to Shelbyville Friday and travels to Tolono Saturday for a double dip with Unity and Coal City.
