Madison Stevens twirled a complete-game shut backed by an Ellie Ward homer and St. Joseph-Ogden blanked Monticello 2-0 in Illini Prairie Conference high school softball action from St. Joseph Monday afternoon.

Ward's sixth-inning homer broke a scoreless tie as Stevens and Monticello's Cassidee Stoeffel went toe-to-toe for most of the game. 

Ward struck out four while permitting six hits and a walk. 

Stoeffel allowed two runs in her seven innings of work. The sophomore struck out seven and allowed seven hits while issuing just one walk.

Monticello is 14-12 overall and 2-5 in the Illini Prairie Conference. They will host Sullivan this afternoon (Tuesday).
