Strong starting pitching Saturday helped Normal Community sweep a double dip with Andrew (Tinley Park) 6-2, 3-0 from Normal Community High School in non-conference high school baseball action.
In the opener, Brady Bengston allowed a run on six hits with no walks and five strikeouts.
Josh Eisfelder paced the offense with two runs batted in finishing 1-for-2. Kaileb Hackman, Riley Hendren, and Owen Cavanaugh had doubles for the Ironmen. Anthony Gura and Lucas Drengwitz added RBIs.
In the second game, Jack Richards was lights out over 4 1/3 innings of shutout ball for Normal. He struck out three while issuing two walks and permitting five hits.
Reid Johnson and Gavin Borne had RBIs for Normal. Drew Stevens hit a double.
Normal Community did not have a player record multiple hits in either game.
The second game of the day was only five innings.
With the two wins, Normal Community improves to 26-3 overall. They resume Big 12 play today traveling to Bloomington High School. The two inner city rivals played to an 11-10, eight inning thriller on Friday.
