HS FBall: Normal U-High Looking To Keep 'Leveling Up'

Normal U-High football coach Brody Walworth enters his fourth season at the helm of the Pioneers football program and says while his team turned the corner last year, the work isn't done.

After a 7-2 regular season and a shutout loss in the Class 4A playoffs, the Pioneers are not content. Coach Walworth says now the goal is to continue to 'level up'.

The Pioneers bring back the bulk of their experience from last year - led by quarterback Alek Weiland. Coach Walworth says his team has to get better in those short-yardage situations.

Coach Walworth has been focused on making sure his team understands what it takes to be a team that now has an expectation to meet because of its success last year.

This year's seniors will be the first group that Coach Walworth has been with since their first day of football. He likes the relationships among the athletes as well as between the athletes and coaches.

He says the first priority for the Pioneers is to win its first game and get the season off to a good start.
