Friday night's season-opening football game in Monticello has been postponed to Saturday at noon.

Severe weather rolling through the area delayed the teams getting on the field before the game even started and the decision to postpone the game came about 30 minutes before kickoff. 

Monticello was set to host St. Joseph-Ogden in Illini Prairie Conference high school football action for week one. 

Last year's game in St. Joseph was delayed around 90 minutes due to severe weather. 

The Spartans have won the last two matchups against the Sages.

Game time on Saturday is at noon and can be heard on 95.9 FM WEZC and online at dewittdailynews.com.
