In a game heard on WEZC and online at dewittdailynews.com, Monticello scored on the first play from scrimmage and made easy work of Rantoul 46-13 in Illini Prairie Conference high school football action Friday in Rantoul.
On a jet sweep, Carter Foran took the toss from Ike Young and raced up the right sideline for a 70-yard touchdown to put the Sages up 7-0.
Young and Foran would connect again later in the frame from 19 yards out. Young would hit Russ Brown from 21 yards out and also ran in a 19-yard score on his own.
Monticello scored on a safety on a botched snap on a fourth down punt attempt to lead 30-0 after the first quarter.
Young and Foran weren't done, the pair connected in the second quarter with a 32-yard touchdown hookup to put Monticello ahead 40-0. That came after a Nolan Buehnerkemper 25-yard field goal.
Young finished 9-of-14 for 163 yards with four touchdown passes and ran for 74 yards on five carries with a score.
Foran finished with four receptions, three were touchdowns and 136 yards. He was the ServPro of Piatt/DeWitt Counties Player of the Game.
Rantoul falls to 1-5 overall.
