HS FBall: After a Couple Easy Wins, Monticello Enters Teeth of Schedule

The final third of the Monticello schedule for the last few years has been a make-or-break stretch.

After a couple of easy wins over Pontiac and most recently Rantoul, Coach Welter has been pleased with his team's execution to put those teams away.

Carter Foran took the open play from scrimmage 70 yards on a jet sweep and was easily over 100 yards in the first half and didn't see action in the second half. Coach Welter is still looking for a complementary playmaker for his senior receiver.

The teeth of the schedule begin Friday when the Sages host state-ranked Paxton-Buckley-Loda. While Monticello clinched playoff eligibility, Coach Welter knows it is a pivotal stretch.

Monticello hosts PBL on Friday night at 7 pm. The home team has had the edge in this series since the COVID season with the teams alternating wins and losses with the home team winning the last four matchups.
