Experience in the postseason can be one of the most important things a high school football coach can rely on and Normal Community football coach Jason Drengwitz has plenty of it.
The Ironmen finished the regular season 8-1 overall and 8-0 in the Big 12 to win the conference title again in 2024. On the WHOW/WEZC high school playoff show Saturday night, Coach Drengwitz says his team just got better week to week.
The Normal Community offense is very experienced - particularly in its skill positions. Coach Drengwitz says it starts with their dynamic, multi-sport playmaker Kyle Beaty.
Coach Drengwitz credits his team for being able to be creative in its ways to get the ball to its playmakers, fly to the ball and win on special teams. He says they're going to have to continue to get better at those aspects of the game in the 7A postseason.
The 7A playoffs for Normal Community starts Saturday afternoon when they host West Chicago in a first round playoff matchup.
