In a game heard on WEZC and online at dewittdailynews.com, Lombard Montini Catholic held Monticello to under 100 total yards and rolled to a 49-8 win in the Class 3A state title game from Hancock Stadium in Normal.
Jeremiah Peterson had 134 yards rushing and a touchdown, leading a balanced rushing attack that saw four different players get a rushing touchdown for the Broncos.
CJ Harkins had 123 yards receiving on two receptions with two touchdowns. Israel Abrams threw for 225 yards with three touchdowns for Montini.
In the championship game, Carter Foran eclipsed the 100-yard mark again with nine receptions for 110 yards and a touchdown.
All-State quarterback Ike Young did not play in the second half due to an injury. Nolan Buehnerkemper threw for 85 yards with a touchdown. Young threw for 92 yards in the first half.
Monticello ends its season 11-3 overall.
