Bears Search for Head Coach

The Chicago Bears will sell candidates for their head coaching job on the opportunity to develop Caleb Williams into the franchise quarterback they’re counting on him to become.

They will mention the salary cap space and the draft capital they have. They’ll probably show mockups of potential stadiums in the city and on the tract of land they own in Arlington Heights, too.

Warren said Ryan Poles will remain the Bears general manager and serve as the “point person” in the search for a coach to replace the fired Matt Eberflus. He said Poles would have the “final say” if the two have differing opinions on who should get the job.

Chicago (4-8) had never fired a coach during a season. But a six-game losing streak marked by questionable coaching decisions spurred the founding NFL franchise to change course. The Bears let Eberflus go Friday and replaced him on an interim basis with offensive coordinator Thomas Brown.
