In a game heard on 95.9 FM WEZC and online at dewittdailynews.com, Williamsville hit six threes to start the game and Bullets used a fast start to roll Monticello 66-35 on Tuesday night in non-conference high school boy's basketball action from Williamsville High School.
Williamsville started 6-for-11 from distance before they even attempted a two-point field goal and led 26-9 at about the halfway point of the second quarter and led 35-16 at the intermission.
Gatsby Grant scored 14 points to lead Monticello. Nolan Buehnerkemper added eight points while Carter Foran chipped in with 7 points.
The Bullets were led by Carson Doran who scored 24 points and was 5 for 10 from three. Brayden Saling added 15 points while Blake Schoufler scored 13 points.
The Bullets were 17-of-34 from beyond the arc and shot 52 percent from the floor overall.
The Sages offensive struggles in the early season continued Tuesday as they continued to work in Ike Young from an injury stemming from the football state championship game and working in Carter Foran and Nolan Buehnerkemper who missed the first three weeks of practice stemming from football as well.
Monticello shot 33 percent from the floor.
The two teams combined to shoot just six free throws.
Williamsville held the rebounding advantage 27-24 and scored 24 points off 13 Sages turnovers. The Bullets had ten second-chance points off of ten offensive rebounds.
Williamsville goes to 4-0 overall.
With the loss, the Sages continue the search for their first win at 0-4.
