The Monticello boys basketball team picked up its first victory of the season Friday night over Heyworth and with that came a lot of good things.

Coach Kevin Roy liked a lot of the things he saw from his team Friday. Gatsby Grant led all scorers in the 65-34 win with 21, it was a lot of the little things he was pleased to see.

Sages basketball has always been about controlling what they can control and focusing within. Especially in a time of transition with bringing kids who played in the football championship game into the fold, Coach Roy says the scoreboard and wins and losses will take care of itself, they need to be focused on themselves.

With each passing game, Coach Roy sees his kids coming back from football getting more and more comfortable.
