In a game heard on WEZC and online at dewittdailynews.com, three players scored in double figures and Olney downed Monticello 55-47 Saturday afternoon from the Greenville Comets Holiday Shootout.
Six-foot-eight junior Casey Thomann scored 19 points and six-foot-six senior Rex Hallam had 19 points as well. Hallam was playing in just his third game back from a torn ACL last year. Arjay Keller had 12 points for the Tigers.
Olney shot 51 percent from the floor scoring 32 points in the paint.
Ike Young led Monticello with 13 points while Carter Foran scored 10 points - all in the second half.
Foran's breakout game earned him the ServPro of Piatt/DeWitt Counties player of the game.
Monticello shot 39 percent from the floor and despite a significant size disadvantage, they outrebounded Olney 24-20.
Olney improves to 7-4 overall.
Monticello drops to 2-5 overall. It's off to the Holiday Hoopla for the Sages. They play two games on Thursday. Action starts at 11:30 am with a matchup opposite Ridgeview then a night game against Fithian-Oakwood at 7:30 pm.
