In a game heard on WEZC and online at dewittdailynews.com, Gatsby Grant scored a career-high 28 points on his way to a building record for three-pointers made in a game leading Monticello to a 78-56 win over Ridgeview on day one action from the Monticello Holiday Hoopla at the Sievers Center in Monticello.
Grant made 8-of-12 three-pointers - a Sievers Center record for threes in a game by an individual and Monticello made 11 threes as a team. Grant's performance earned him the ServPro of Piatt/DeWitt Counties player of the game.
Even with 11 threes, Monticello scored 34 points in the paint on the way to shooting 57.4 percent from the floor.
Ike Young scored 18 points for Monticello. The Sages got 23 second-chance points on 12 offensive rebounds and dished out 20 assists on its 31 field goals made.
