Sawyer Woodard scored 25 points and led a powerful Tuscola attack over Monticello 54-38 Friday afternoon in high school boys basketball action from the Holiday Hoopla in Monticello.
The six-foot-five big man was too much all afternoon for an undersized Sages squad and the Warriors' zone defense gave Monticello's offense fits.
Parker James added 15 points for Tuscola who will advance to its fifth straight Holiday Hoopla Championship Saturday night.
The Warriors had 30 points in the paint and converted 14 Sages turnovers into 16 points.
Only Nolan Buehnerkemper reached double figures with 10 points and grabbed five rebounds.
Ike Young had nine points but his impact was felt on defense holding Tuscola's leading scorer Kam Sweetnam to just seven points - all in the first quarter.
Tuscola is 13-0 on the season and will play for the Hoopla championship on Saturday night at 7 pm.
Monticello falls to 4-6 overall. They will play at 3:30 pm on Saturday afternoon. Hear the action on 95.9 FM WEZC and online at dewittdailynews.com.
