The Clinton Maroons will look to avenge a loss in last year's Holiday Hoopla Championship game Saturday night after a 53-48 win over GMCS Friday night in high school boy's basketball action in Monticello.
Three players scored in double figures and Clinton held off the Falcons to advance to its second straight matchup opposite Central Illinois Conference rival Tuscola Saturday night in Monticello.
Colton Walker went for double figures for the first time in tournament play with 16 points. Keaton Graves added 14 points and Dalton Bell scored 11 points.
Despite shooting 47 percent from the floor, the Falcons committed 27 turnovers and that led to 26 Maroons points.
Clinton scored 28 points in the paint. The Maroons finished shooting just 37.7 percent from the floor and went 3-for-17 from three.
GCMS outrebounded Clinton 34-23. Anthony Westbrooks grabbed a game-best ten boards for the Maroons.
Grayton Leonard scored 16 points with nine rebounds to lead GCMS. Brayden Elliot added ten points.
Clinton goes to 9-5 and will take on Tuscola for the Hoopla Championship at 7:30 pm in Monticello. Hear the action on WHOW and all its digital platforms.
