HS BBBall: Monticello Falls Short to Teutopolis

In a game heard on WEZC and online at dewittdailynews.com, Mich Niebrugge had a double-double and Teutopolis bounced Monticello 41-37 in non-conference high school boy's basketball action from the Sievers Center in Monticello Wednesday.

Wednesday's game was postponed from Tuesday due to poor travel conditions in south central Illinois.

Niebrugge helped pace a rebounding effort that saw the Wooden Shoes outrebound the Sages 32-24. T-town held Monticello to 29 percent shooting for night.

Drew Hoene added 12 points and six boards for the Wooden Shoes.

Carter Foran helped fuel a Monticello comeback late. The senior hid nine of his team-best 13 points in the second half as Monticello rallied from an 11-point deficit in the third quarter but could only get within one of T-town late. His efforts earned him the ServPro of Piatt/DeWitt Counties Player of the Game.

Monticello started very flat after a big win over Warrensburg-Latham Friday night. They went just 4-of-14 shooting in the first quarter and then 2-of-9 in the second quarter.

While only making 12 field goals for the game, Monticello had nine assists on those 12 field goals and only committed ten turnovers.

They could only turn 17 Wooden Shoes turnovers into 12 points.

T-town goes to 10-4 overall.

Monticello drops to 6-7 overall. The Sages travel to Chillicothe for a matchup with IVC on Friday night to open Illini Prairie Conference action. Game time is 7 pm. Hear the action on 95.9 FM WEZC and online at dewittdailynews.com.
