HS BBBall: Big Third Quarter Dooms Blue Ridge

Friday night was the opening round of the Lincoln Prairie Conference tournament and a big third quarter propelled Cerro Gordo-Bement past Blue Ridge 66-56 from Cerro Gordo High School.

The Broncos led 32-25 at the break and outscored the Knights 19-5 to go up 51-40 after three quarters.

Despite Wesley Clark scoring 11 of his game-high 30 points in the final frame, the Knights’ late comeback fell short and they will move on the consolation side of the conference tournament bracket.

1,000 career point scorer Isaac Price was limited to 13 points for Blue Ridge.

With the win, Cerro Gordo moves on to the winner’s bracket and a Saturday matchup with top-seeded Okaw Valley at 11 am Saturday (Jan 25).

Blue Ridge battles Argenta-Oreana in the consolation bracket Tuesday evening at 5 pm at Arcola Junior High School.
