Monticello held off a late charge by Pawnee winning 31-26 in non-conference high school girl's basketball action Thursday at the Sievers Center in Monticello. 

The Lady Sages shut out Pawnee 9-0 in the first. They never scored in double figures in any frame and led 17-10 at halftime, stretching its lead to 25-14 after three.

Pawnee outscored Monticello 12-6 in the final frame. 

Megan Allen had a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Ali Weidner led the Lady Sages with 16 points. 

The Lady Sages are 15-8 overall. They play at the Illini Prairie/Sangamo Conference shootout on Saturday afternoon at Maroa-Forsyth High School when they play Athens at 4 pm. Hear the action on 95.9 FM WEZC and online at dewittdailynews.com.
