Clinton overcame a big second half by Tuscola in a 43-40 win in the Championship game of the Central Illinois Conference tournament Thursday at Clinton High School.

The Lady Maroons led 26-13 at the half but the Lady Warriors used a big second half to climb back in the game.

Avery Smith paced the Lady Maroons with 17 points. Lila Cluver added nine points while Clara Dempsey finished with seven points. 

Ava Boyer led Tuscola with 19 points and Taylor Gordon poured in 13 points.

Tuscola was unable to avenge its CIC loss to Clinton earlier this month. The Lady Maroons beat the Lady Warriors a few weeks ago at Clinton High School, 60-53. 

Tuscola is 14-10 overall. 

Clinton wins the 2025 Central Illinois Conference girl's basketball tournament and goes to 21-5 overall. Conference tournament games do not count toward the regular season conference mark however, the Lady Maroons are 4-0 in the CIC to this point.

The Lady Maroons put a ten-game winning streak on the line next Thursday at Central A&M.
