In a game heard on WEZC and online at dewittdailynews.com, Monticello started slow and could never recover as St. Joe-Ogden rolled to a 68-38 victory Friday night in Illini Prairie Conference high school boy’s basketball action from St. Joe-Ogden High School.
The Sages had turnovers on its first four possessions and the Spartans jumped out to an early 15-5 lead and never looked back.
Tanner Siems (seems) had 24 points to lead the Spartans and Coy Taylor scored 20 points.
The Spartans led 26-12 at halftime and started the second half on an 11-2 run to go up 37-14.
Ike Young continued his offensive breakout for Monticello leading the Sages with 19 points. The senior was the ServPro of Piatt/DeWitt Counties player of the game.
The Spartans have won eight in a row to improve to 16-5 overall and 5-0 in the Illini Prairie Conference.
