HS BBBall: Maroa-Forsyth Walks Off Athens

Caebrin Lee hit a layup at the buzzer and sent Maroa-Forsyth to a 58-56 win over Athens Friday night in Sangamo Conference boys basketball action in Maroa.

The sophomore finished an eventful week in style on a stellar feed from senior Mitch Williams that set up the game-winner. Lee missed just over a month with a broken wrist and returned to the lineup earlier this week.

He scored 24 points Friday to lead the Trojans to a much-needed win as just a handful of games remain before the postseason begins later this month.

Williams scored 15 of his 20 points in the first half as Maroa-Forsyth suddenly finds itself getting healthy after battling a hellacious rash of injuries most of the season.

The Trojans will be without Coby Lane the rest of the way but in the last month, Williams and Ryne Sheppard have returned from injuries sustained during the high school football postseason that sidelined them for significant time. Additionally, Lee's return to the lineup this week has proved to be hugely beneficial.

After Friday's win, Maroa-Forsyth is 10-10 overall and 2-3 in the Sangamo Conference. They will host Paxton-Buckley-Loda on Saturday afternoon.
