Illinois State baseball fell in a midweek matchup at Oral Roberts, 5-3, Wednesday, as the Golden Eagles scored four runs over the 5th and 6th innings to secure the victory.
Illinois State (2-8) got a trio of home runs as part of a 12-hit afternoon for the Redbirds.
The Redbirds would get the scoring started with back-to-back home runs from Judah Morris and Graham Mastros in the top of the 2nd for a 2-0 lead.
Oral Roberts quickly responded with a leadoff home run in the bottom of the 2nd to trim the margin to 2-1 after three innings.
The Golden Eagles gained the lead in the bottom of the 5th with an RBI double and single to take the 3-2 advantage.
Oral Roberts added a pair of runs in the 6th with a two-run RBI single to push the lead to 5-2 after six innings of play.
Illinois State would cut into the deficit with a solo shot from Shai Robinson in the 7th as the Birds made it 5-3.
Oral Roberts moves to 7-4 overall.
Illinois State remains in the Sooner State for a weekend series at #25 Oklahoma State in Stillwater from Friday to Sunday. First pitch on Friday is set for 6 pm CT.
