HS Softball: Monticello Rallies Past Leroy

In a game heard on WEZC and online at dewittdailynews.com, the Monticello Sages fell behind early but rallied in the 5th inning to beat the Leroy Panthers by a final score of 10-7 in the Season Opener from Monticello High School. 

 

Ashley Stiverson led the Sages with two runs, three hits, and two RBIs and was the Servpro of Piatt/DeWitt Counties Player of the Game. Cassidee Stoffel pitched 7 innings and allowed 10 hits while putting up three hits and an RBI. Avery Schweitzer had a hit, two runs, and an RBI. 

 

The Panthers were led by Morgan Fleming, who had two hits, two runs, and an RBI. Lilly Long and Khloe Builta allowed 14 hits, with a combined 10 strikeouts and four walks.

 

Stoffel struck out seven batters and walked one. 

 

With the win, the Sages improve to 1-0 while Leroy falls to 0-1.
