Eric Cooper and Aaron Volle combined to hold Nokomis to one run and lead Mt Pulaski to an 8-1 season-opening win in non-conference high school baseball action from Nokomis on Thursday.

Cooper fired four innings of one-run ball for the Hilltoppers. He struck out three, walked two, and permitted three hits.

Volle threw three hitless, shutout innings. He walked three and struck out two.
Luke Martin drove in two runs with a double. He finished 1-for-3. Volle drove in two runs while Tyler Cross and Chase Roberts each drove in two. 

The Hilltoppers start the season 1-0. Mt. Pulaski travels to Litchfield on Friday.
