HS Baseball: Normal West Downs Limestone

Pitching was strong and a big eighth inning sent Normal West past Limestone 6-1 Thursday in non-conference high school baseball action in Bartonville.

Sean Jenkins fired six innings of one-run ball for the Wildcats. He struck out seven, walked one, and allowed two hits.

Gage Flairty took the win with two innings of scoreless relief.

A two-run error opened the floodgates for Normal West in the extra frame. With the bases loaded, Sam Cully hit a grounder on the infield. The throw home for the force out went wide, allowing two runs to score.

From there Drew Hart doubled in two more and Torin DeLaere brought home the sixth run of the game for Normal West with a single.

Chase Knuth finished 2-for-3 for the Wildcats. DeLaere was 2-for-4. Ty Bachman scored two runs.

Normal West is 3-0 on the season. The Wildcats will travel to Alabama for a spring break trip next week.
