Monticello opened its 2025 spring baseball slate with a 12-1 win over Anna-Jonesboro in Anna Friday afternoon. 

Brian Wiltgen was 3-for-4 with four RBIs, two doubles, and scored twice for the Sages. Colton Vance hit a solo home run and was 1-for-3 with two RBIs and scored twice. Dawson Gaitros and Cole Basak drove in runs for Monticello.

Matthias Rudolph fired two innings on the mound allowing an unearned run on two hits with five strikeouts. 

Hunter Romano struck out nine in five innings of shutout relief. The junior walked two and permitted two hits.

The Sages are 1-0. They take on Murphysboroon  Saturday morning.
