Clinton earned its first win of the season beating Cornerstone Christian Academy 4-1 in non-conference high school baseball action Saturday in Clinton.
Josh Bass doubled in the ultimate game-winning run with a double in the fifth inning. He finished 2-for-4 and added a stolen base.
Preston Curtis got the win on the mound leading a solid day of pitching for the Maroons. The junior struck out eight across four scoreless innings of one-hit relief.
John Smock got the start and allowed a run on two hits in two innings of work. He struck out two and walked four. Jaeden Bell struck out two in a scoreless inning of relief.
Jaxon Reynolds with 1-for-3 with two RBIs, two stolen bases, and a run scored for the Maroons.
Clinton is 1-2 on the season and travels to Mahomet-Seymour on Tuesday.
