Normal West rallied late for a 6-2 win over Russellville (AL) in the Gulf Shores of Alabama on Thursday morning in high school baseball.
Trailing 2-1 going into the top of the seventh, Ryder Coone laid down a squeeze bunt to bring home a runner from third and tie the score at 2-2.
From there, a double steal scored Torin DeLaere to give Normal West the 3-2 lead. Chase Knuth capped the scoring with a two-run double later in the inning.
Chase Reinhart fired 3 1/3 innings of two runs - both runs were unearned. He struck out four, walked four, and permitted a hit. Gage Flairty finished the win with 3 2/3 innings of shutout ball. He struck out three and permitted a hit and a walk.
Sean Jenkins was 2-for-3 for Normal West. DeLaere walked twice and scored twice, finishing 1-for-1.
Normal West improves to 6-1 overall. They return to the Midwest next week to take on Champaign Centennial.
