A four-run sixth inning propelled Monticello to a come-from-behind win over Prairie Central 6-3 in Illini Prairie Conference high school baseball action Thursday in Faibrury.
Trailing 3-2, Koyie Williams and Eli Craft hit back-to-back two-run singles to put the Sages in front for good.
Gatsby Grant relieved Williams in the bottom half of the frame and struck out all four batters he faced for the victory in holding onto the win.
Williams allowed three unearned runs in 3 2/3 innings. The junior struck out five, walked two, and permitted two hits.
Williams and Carter Foran each had two hits at the top of the order for Monticello.
Williams drove in two runs while Craft drove in three, finishing 1-for-3.
Eric Arnold had an RBI and was 1-for-3 for the Sages.
Cole Basak finished 2-for-3 for Monticello.
The Sages are 7-2 overall and start 1-0 in the Illini Prairie Conference. They travel to Gibson City on Friday to take on GCMS.
