Tyrelle Chadwick pitched into the ninthi inning on Sunday but Illinois State dropped a heartbreaking walk-off to Valparaiso, 3-2 at Emory G. Bauer Field.

Chadwick went 8 1/3 innings, striking out five Beacons (8-19 overall, 3-6 MVC), as the junior allowed a run and seven hits across 118 pitches. 

The Redbirds (14-16 overall, 6-3 MVC) finished with six hits on the afternoon. Brayden Bakes hit a two-run home run. Kyle Gibson finished 2-for-5 while Luke Stulga was 2-for-4.

Illinois State will start a four-game homestand with a midweek against Illinois on Tuesday.
