Sidney Ditchen had four hits, including a home run, but Havana outlasted Heyworth 12-11 in non-conference high school softball action from Havana on Tuesday.

Ditchen was 4-for-5 with three RBIs to lead the Lady Hornets. Grace Streenz was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Haley Rogers was 2-for-4 with a double and four RBIs for Heyworth. 

Havana jumped out to a 5-0 lead, but the Lady Hornets would answer with two runs apiece in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings to go up 6-5. 

The Lady Ducks scratched six runs across in the fifth inning to pull away. Havana held a 12-6 lead going to the final frame, but a valiant Heyworth comeback fell just short as they scored five runs to nearly erase the six-run deficit.

Heyworth drops to 2-5 overall. They will travel to LeRoy for a Heart of Illinois Conference tilt on Wednesday.
