Mt. Pulaski rallied to a 6-1 lead and held off a late surge by PORTA-AC Central for a 7-5 win in non-conference high school baseball action from Petersburg on Wednesday.
The Bullets scored six unanswered runs and led 6-1. The Hilltoppers had to hold off a late surge by the Blue Jays for the victory.
Chance Payne's two-run home run in the third proved to be the game-winner for Mt. Pulaski. Payne finished 1-for-2 with two runs scored and a walk. Luke Martin finished 1-for-4 with two RBIs, and Eric Cooper was 1-for-4 with a double and run scored.
The Hilltoppers are 5-2 overall. They travel to Delavan on Thursday to open Tomahawk Conference action.
