Normal Community scored seven unanswered runs and won its fifth straight in a 7-4 win over Champaign Central on Thursday in Big 12 high school baseball action from Normal.
The Ironmen fell behind 4-0 after the top of the first inning but scored five runs in the second inning and then two more in the fourth inning.
Max Heineman doubled, tripled, and drove in three to lead Normal Community. Gavin Swartz finished 4-for-4.
Swartz settled down after the four-run first inning and went the distance for the Ironmen. He permitted four runs, three of which were earned, on six hits with nine strikeouts to just two walks.
Normal Community improves to 7-3 and 5-0 in the Big 12 Conference. They travel to Champaign for a Friday game against Central.
