Mt. Pulaski opened Tomahawk Conference action with a 5-3 win over Delavan on Thursday afternoon in Delavan.

Eric Cooper, Liam Smith, Aaron Volle and Preston Cowan had RBIs for the Hilltoppers. 

Mt. Pulaski jumped out to a 4-0 lead after a three-run second inning.

Delavan rebounded with three runs in the fourth to cut the deficit down to 4-3. But the Hilltoppers came back with a run in the top of the fifth for the final tally. 

Luke Martin allowed three runs on four hits across six innings for the win. He struck out six and walked three. 

The Hilltoppers improved to 6-2 overall and 1-0 in the Tomahawk Conference. They travel to Decatur to take on MacArthur on Saturday morning.
