Josh Bass' run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning sent Clinton past Tuscola in an 11 inning marathon 4-3 win in Central Illinois Conference high school baseball action on Thursday in Tuscola.
The Maroons rally in the 11th started with two outs. Jack Manning hit an infield single. Colton Walker walked to set up first and second with two outs.
Off on contact, Manning scored on Bass' base hit to right field to give the Maroons the 4-3 lead.
Manning got the start, going five innings and allowing three runs, two of which were earned, on three hits with four strikeouts.
Preston Curtis got the win with six scoreless innings of relief. The junior struck out five, permitted two hits, and walked two. He worked around a leadoff walk in the 11th to close out the win.
Cole Fentress was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs to lead the Maroons. Ryan Pine was 3-for-5 with an RBI. Bass finished 2-for-6 with a double and added an RBI. Manning and Walker each had two hits for Clinton.
Clinton improves to 5-4 overall and 2-0 in the Central Illinois Conference. They will host Dee-Mack on Saturday.
