Normal Community came alive late and scored six unanswered runs to get by Champaign Central 6-2 in Big 12 Conference high school baseball from Champaign on Friday.
Kyle Beaty led the Ironmen, finishing 3-for-4 with a double, three RBIs, a stolen base, and two runs scored. He had the only multi-hit effort for Normal Community.
Max Heineman doubled, and Brady Burkhart drove in a run. Burkhart stole two bases.
Three Ironmen pitchers combined to limit the Maroons to five hits.
Normal Community is 8-3 overall and 6-0 in the Big 12. They will travel to Rock Island on Saturday for a twin bill in non-conference play.
