In a game heard on WHOW and all its digital platforms, the Warrensburg-Latham Lady Cardinals got out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first and never looked back as they defeated the Clinton Lady Maroons 13-5 in Central Illinois Conference softball action Tuesday in Clinton.
The Maroons were led by Riley Fentress, who went 1-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored. She was the Servpro of Piatt/DeWitt Counties Player of the Game. Hadley Humble was 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Lainey Nichols was 1-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI.
Aliviyah Haynes pitched all seven innings. She allowed 13 runs on 14 hits, walked one, and struck out seven.
The Cardinals were led by Brooklyn Burton, who was 5-for-5 with four runs scored and two RBIs. Kelsey Oakley was 4-for-5 with three runs and four RBIs, including a 2-run home run.
Oakley allowed five runs on six hits in her seven innings in circle. She struck out five and issued three walks.
With the loss, the Lady Maroons fall to 2-6, while Warrensburg-Latham improves to 5-4.
