Monticello used a balanced offense, and Matthias Rudolph got the Sages out of a bases-loaded seventh inning jam in a 7-2 win over Mattoon in non-conference high school baseball action in Mattoon on Tuesday.

Carter Foran pitched into the seventh inning. The senior went six innings of two-run ball for Monticello. H struck out three, walked three, and permitted seven hits.

Cole Basak had three hits and an RBI to pace the Sages offense. Ike Young was 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI. Eli Craft was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Colton Vance was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Eric Arnold was 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI. 

Heyden Romano drove in another run for Monticello.
