Central A&M used a fast start to get by Clinton 11-6 in Central Illinois Conference high school softball action on Friday in Assumption.

Avery Smith led Clinton, finishing 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Hadley Humble drove in two runs with an RBI triple.

Anelise Thompson was 2-for-3 with a double, and Riley Fentress also finished 2-for-3 with a stolen base for Clinton. 

The Lady Maroons fall to 2-8 overall and 0-2 in the Central Illinois Conference. They visit Decatur St. Teresa on Monday.
