Preston Curtis outdueled Marshall Minott and Clinton blanked Central A&M 1-0 in a Central Illinois Conference high school baseball classic from Assumption on Friday.
Curtis struck out 12 in 6 2/3 shutout innings. The junior permitted just one hit and walked two. Jack Manning got the final out for Clinton.
Jon Smock had an RBI groundout in the top of the sixth inning that scored Mitchell Cornwell for the only run of the game.
Cornwell, Cole Fintress, and Jaeden Bell had the only hits of the game for Clinton.
Minott twirled seven innings of one-run ball for the Raiders. He struck out five, allowed three hits, and walked two.
The Maroons are 6-7 overall and 3-1 in the Central Illinois Conference. They will travel to Riverton on Saturday.
