Normal West's Chase Reinhart delivered a stellar performance on the mound, leading the Wildcats to a 3-0 victory over Normal Community in Big 12 high school baseball action on Wednesday at Normal West.
The Wildcats capitalized on early opportunities to build their lead. In the bottom of the first, a wild pitch advanced a runner, followed by Ryder Coone's RBI groundout and another run scoring on a fielder's choice, putting Normal West ahead 2-0.
Coone tripled with one out in the fourth inning and scored on a sacrifice fly by Brady Hart.
Reinhart went the distance for Normal West, allowing only 3 hits and racking 10 strikeouts.
Coone finished 2-for-3 with a crucial triple, an RBI, and scored two runs. Hart also contributed an RBI with his sacrifice fly.
Normal Community drops to 12-4 overall and 8-1 in the Big 12. Normal West is 13-6 overall and 7-2 in the Big 12. The two teams meet again on Friday at Normal Community High School.
