A wild pitch brought in the winning run for Delavan, who edged Blue Ridge 3-2 on Friday afternoon in a non-conference high school softball thriller in Delavan.
The game remained tied until the dramatic bottom of the seventh inning. Delavan's Miley Harper led off with a triple to right field. With Izzy Brothwood at the plate, Harper advanced home and scored the winning run on a wild pitch, securing a 3-2 walk-off victory for Delavan.
Blue Ridge jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first inning. Addison Roos started things off with a single. Lillian Enger then doubled, driving in Roos. Karlee Fenton followed with a single, bringing Enger home and giving the Lady Knights a 2-0 advantage.
Delavan responded in the bottom of the fifth inning. Lainey Klokkenga singled, and then Addi Fisher hit a triple, scoring Klokkenga. Jayley Fisher followed with a single, driving in Addi Fisher and tying the game at 2-2.
Klokkenga pitched a dominant game for Delavan, striking out an impressive 17 Blue Ridge batters.
Ellie Schleiper took the loss for Blue Ridge, pitching 6 innings and allowing 3 runs on 11 hits, with 6 strikeouts.
Blue Ridge drops to 6-9 overall. They will visit Decatur Eisenhower on Saturday.
