Shelbyville teed off late and pulled away from Clinton 7-1 in Central Illinois Conference high school baseball action on Friday afternoon in Clinton.
Shelbyville's offense broke through in the fifth inning, scoring four runs, and added two more in the seventh to secure their victory.
Clinton's lone run came in the bottom of the sixth inning when Josh Bass hit a solo home run to center field, homering for the second straight game and third homer in his last four. Colton Walker, Ryan Pine, and Cole Fentress added hits for the Maroons.
Preston Curtis pitched 6 2/3 innings for the Clinton, allowing seven runs - five earned - on seven hits while striking out ten batters.
Clinton falls to 8-10 overall and 3-3 in the Central Illinois Conference. They visit Meridian on Monday.
