Heyworth topped Illini Central 8-5 in non-conference high school softball action from Heyworth on Tuesday.

Heyworth jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first inning when Gabby Dow connected for a three-run home run to left field, driving in Sidney Ditchen and Ellasyn Loudenburg. 

They added another run in the bottom of the second after Sidney Ditchen doubled to right field, bringing Lauryn Streenz across the plate. 

In the bottom of the fourth, Sidney Ditchen connected for a two-run home run to right field, scoring Paylin Williams.

Ditchen was 2-for-3 with a double and a home run, totaling four RBIs. Haley Rogers finished 2-for-2 with a double. 

Dow pitched a complete game for Heyworth, earning the win in circle.

The Lady Hornets improve to 7-10 overall. They host Tri-Valley on Thursday.
