HS Baseball: Mt. Pulaski Walks Off Jacksonville Routt Catholic

A wild pitch scored Liam Smith in the bottom of the eighth inning and Mt. Pulaski walked off Jacksonville Routt Catholic 1-0 in an extra innings thriller on Tuesday from Mt. Pulaski in non-conference high school baseball action. 

 

After Chance Payne drew a walk and Luke Martin was hit by a pitch to load the bases with one out, the stage was set for a dramatic finish. With Carter Clark at the plate, a wild pitch allowed Smith to race home from third, scoring the game's only run and igniting the Mt. Pulaski dugout in a thrilling walk-off victory.

 

Luke Martin went six innings of shutout ball, allowing five hits and striking out seven. 

 

Smith delivered two scoreless innings. 

 

The Hilltoppers go to 15-3 overall. They host LeRoy on Thursday.
